Cast Paper Sculpture
Paper. It is infinitely malleable. It can do anything. Be anything. It can be simple or complex. It can be
transformed beyond recognition. It can be taken apart and put back together endlessly.
When I began to explore paper I knew it could be used for sculpting but wasn't sure how, or to what extent. I
discovered a material and process that suited my style, was simple, ecological and economical. It has
evolved, this half-invented method. I feel like it is my own, it is unique, and it enhances my subject matter.
Making pieces first in clay, creating a wax mold, then the final casting in recycled paper pulp; I have a
technique for making beautiful things from garbage.
